Privacy notice

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This notice explains how Poplars Estate handles personal information you give us through this website, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

This website covers three businesses on Poplars Estate, R500, Parys: the Poplars Wedding Venue, the Longhorn Saloon and Destination Unknown (our river venue). All three are operated by Poplars Estate (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2014/060247/07, which is responsible for the personal information collected through this website.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry or booking form, we receive your name, email address, phone number, event or booking details and message. The form is sent securely through our web host, Cloudflare, to the mailbox of the business you are contacting, which is hosted on Microsoft 365. We also email you a confirmation that your enquiry arrived. To stop spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks technical information about your browser and device; it is not used for advertising.

This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. To display the site, your browser connects to our web host and to Google Fonts, which receive your IP address as part of normal web traffic. Cloudflare and Microsoft may process information on servers outside South Africa; they are bound by data protection terms that give protection similar to POPIA.

How we use it

Only to reply to your enquiry, prepare quotes, and manage your booking or event. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

For as long as needed to handle your enquiry or booking and to meet legal and tax record-keeping requirements, after which it is deleted.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to its use, by emailing the business you dealt with: weddings@poplarsestate.co.za, saloon@poplarsestate.co.za or destinationunknown@poplarsestate.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
