Destination Unknown

Going nowhere slowly.

A private, secluded stretch of riverbank with its own sandy beach, where nobody's in a hurry and the party bus never left. One group at a time: yours.

Welcome to the middle of nowhere

The best place you've never been

Down past the wedding gardens, the road runs out, the signal gives up, and the trees open onto a sandy beach on the river. That's Destination Unknown.

There are no neighbours, no other groups and no timetable. Bring your crew for a party that runs into the stars, a fishing trip that starts before sunrise, or a weekend under canvas where the biggest decision is who lights the fire.

  • Private and secluded: one group at a time
  • Off-grid camping in the shade of the trees
  • Sandy beach on the water's edge
  • Fire pit on the bank for a braai
  • Bank fishing for carp and other river fish
  • A long, calm stretch of river for rowing

Riverside parties

Yes, there really is a party bus. It parked under the trees, grew a deck and never left. Book the whole riverbank for birthdays, 21sts, bachelors and bachelorettes, year-end functions and reunions, string up the lights and let the party go nowhere slowly.

  • The whole spot to yourselves, by booking only
  • Space for tables, a gazebo and a dance floor on the sand
  • Fire pit for the braai and the after-party
  • Camp over, so nobody has to drive home

Fishing & off-grid camping

Pitch your tents under the trees, cast a line from the beach at first light and row the quiet water while the coffee brews. No power, no crowds, just the fire, the stars and the river.

  • Off-grid camping for your group only
  • Bank and beach fishing for carp and more
  • A long, calm stretch of river for rowing
  • Sandy beach for lazy afternoons

Before you leave for nowhere

Bookings

The river is booked for one group at a time, for camping or for a day visit. Private parties by booking only. Rates and maximum group size to be confirmed on booking.

Off-grid camping

There is no electricity at the river. Bring your own tents, lights, drinking water and power bank. Toilets and showers.

Fishing

Anglers need a valid provincial angling license. Catch-and-release supported. Bring your own tackle and bait.

On the water

Bring your own boat, canoe or kayak. Wear a life jacket on the water and keep an eye on children at the beach: there is no lifeguard.

Parties

Bring the music, the people and the meat; we provide the riverbank. Please arrange a sober driver or stay over.

Fires & braai

Use the fire pit on the bank and put fires out completely before you leave. Bring your own wood or charcoal.

What to bring

Chairs, cooler boxes, sunscreen and insect repellent. Take all your rubbish with you, so the river stays beautiful for the next group.

Book your stop

Where to? Nowhere. When? You tell us.

Send your dates, how many people are coming and what you have in mind: a party, a fishing trip or an off-grid camping weekend. We'll confirm availability and costs, usually within two working days.
